June 28, 2009-Left about 5am CT and drove to Boerne, Texas, just outside on the west side of San Antonio. We figured that we would rather be there than have to deal with SA traffic on Monday. So our journey (which btw rhymes with Boerne) took us just shy of 600 miles. We settled in at the Fiesta RV Park, a nice place just off of I-10. It was quite hot there with the heat index at 105.

June 29, 2009-Off to Van Horn, Texas this morning. We left “late” today at 8:30, not too far to travel. Les went on his bike ride this morning but after getting up at 4am I was tired and went back to sleep, really Les we are on vacation. Went through a dust storm late this afternoon coming into Van Horn but now are settled and getting ready to grill up chicken. I think we may have a rain storm brewing over the mountains, we’ll see. I am posting a couple of photos from today, but I am also posting a photo of the “PRANK” done to Les’ truck at the jobsite. He was trying to get everything in order before he left and came out to this! Really cracks you up….good job by the anonymous pranksters.

Saturday June 27, 2009 3:00am
We leave the house at 3:00 am on the dot and head out for our first planned destination, Mobile, Alabama. But of course after almost 20 years of being married to me Les is well aware that I will change that mid-stream. So we headed to Hammond, Louisiana a mere 650 miles. Since we have already traveled the Florida panhandle and lower Alabama and Mississippi this part of our journey is merely a way for us to reach our first real relaxing destination, Phoenix Arizona. No sightseeing here. Gas prices today were $2.75/gallon. Stayed at Good Sam Park. Calloway RV Park in Hammond, LA. So far so good.

Final Countdown!

Dorothy comes home to be packed up on Tuesday, most all of our tasks have been completed and we are now getting the final haircuts and paying bills. Les has some stuff to button up at work and is totally focused on that. Shirley and Pat busy cleaning and getting clothes ready to put in Dorothy during the week. We are leaving at 3am Saturday morning. Hope we are at the first campsite in time to watch the RED SOX game.

Three Weeks and Counting

We are all so excited and nervous at the same time. Dorothy has been thoroughly waxed so I am sure that even the bugs won't stick to her. She has been completely serviced and ready to roll. We are having trouble keeping Shirley in her seat because she is ready right now. Les has only three more weeks to tidy up his work project. Pat has pretty much followed her list and only is down to the last few items. Stay tuned.
